the blessed month of ramadan is approaching!!

august 21st is the anticipated date for the beginning of the blessed month of ramadan!! let me say first that im a bit apprehensive because it will be my first ramadan in the heat and long hours of august!! heat just makes me so ill tempered. well its not the heat so much but the humidity. i live in the southern usa and the humidity is THICK!!...and lets face it, humidity and i are not friends!

im going to have to be extra diligent in prayer, make certain i get up to eat and drink plenty of fluids prior to fajr this year to stave off the irritation that the heat brings!!!

im not the best at fasting even in good conditions to be honest!! so i have to prepare myself in advance, which we all should do anyway, but i have to begin a bit earlier than most lol!!

i admire the people who can fall straight into fasting and not skip a bit!! inshallah one day ill be able to do that.

but until then....

i try to start fasting on mondays and thursdays.

as i draw closer to ramadan i try to start going longer and longer periods without food and water.

i try to start lessening my caffeine intake (a huge biggie for me as i do love my coffee, coke zero and diet dr pepper!!!)

its recommended that we not only start to cleanse our homes but our hearts, minds and spirit too for the guest "ramadan"....so instead of spring cleaning, i do a bit of ramadan cleaning!!

but as with each year and the anticipation of ramadan, there also comes the time of eid for me when i have no one with which to celebrate. i guess that will come around this year too but inshallah it wont be so hard on me. perhaps by that time i will have made stronger connections at the mosque.

plus i have you bunch of lovely muslim bloggers subhanallah!!!

anyone else have to prepare this way for ramadan?? or is it easier for you? how do you ladies that moved from the west to east deal with the even worse heat??? love to hear your input.

in shaa Allah you are doing the right things... I was just thinking today I should do the same. Fasting is so hard for me, subhanAllah!

May Allah bless us in our endeavours to be good Muslimahs

:) much love sis

Hmm, let me see...

I also do Ramadhan cleaning during the month before Ramadhan, because I know I will be too tired during Ramadhan to do it.

I am busy making up the fasts I missed last Ramadhan and it is going better than I thought, Alhamdullilah.

I also have the caffeine addiction problem, I have now switched to caffeine free tea to try and reduce my caffeine intake.

On a spiritual side, I do make some goals for extra ibadat, etc for Ramadhan.

Thank you for making us remember this blessed month. I think a lot of people haven't focused on it yet as they're not writing about it, so awesome Jana! I am so inspired by your strong faith. Love you lots!
